Marlena Woolford

Fashion and trends journalist and lecturer.

Marlena Woolford lives in London but travels widely collecting inspirations for varied fashion articles. She used to work alongside multidisciplinary fashion and retail specialists including marketing directors, PR experts, fashion event organizers and designers.

Marlena previously spent more than 4 years at WGSN where she worked with some of the leading fashion and style companies to assist their understanding, interpretation and analysis of global trend information. She left her position as WGSN’s Regional Manager for Central and Eastern Europe in 2010 to create her own company.

Marlena has both academic and considerable practical knowledge across many aspects of the fashion industry. Her particular areas of expertise include trend forecasting and analysis, fashion marketing and business development. She has delivered presentations, workshops and bespoke material on a range of fashion related topics, her audience including CEOs, designers, creative directors, visual merchandisers, product and brand managers, marketing and advertising specialists, buyers, sales managers and many others.

Marlena’s current projects include:

–      Journalist for Just4Textiles, text for Dash Magazine, text for Hiro magazine,

– Guest lecturer on postgraduate courses in Fashion Management and Trend Forecasting and Analysis at two European Universities.

–       The development of a European Union funded e-learning course for fashion retailers.

–       Expert journalist for Retail Bulletin.

–       Lecturer at varied workshops and seminars.

Marlena is also a freelance journalist. Her articles have been published in Newsweek amongst other magazines and she is a regular interviewee in the media, including on television, as a fashion expert. In July 2010, Marlena was one of the members of the international jury panel in the Graduates’ Collection Show at ESMOD University in Berlin.

Marlena holds an MA in International Business and Politics from the Warsaw School of Economics in Poland and another in International Management from CEMS (the Community of European Management Schools) from Luigi Bocconi University in Milan. She also holds post-graduate certificates in fashion business, marketing, branding and interior design from the London College of Fashion and Interior Design School in London.
